Protective effects of Buxus hyrcana against memory impairment and oxidative stress in a pentylenetetrazole-kindled epileptic rat model

Pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) is a chemical substance which largely used for the induction of seizure and epilepsy in animal model, it can also, disrupts free radicals balance cause oxidative stress body with negative impact on memory learning. In this study, medicinal plant Buxus hyrcana, was to evaluate its effect deficit caused by PTZ rats. Twenty-four rats were randomly allocated 4 groups: control under treatment (sub-threshold dose 35 mg/kg one month), positive phenobarbital (PB-30 mg/kg), two groups B. hyrcana extract (BHE-300, -600 mg/kg). Standard passive avoidance test retention recall (evaluation learning). After behavioral evaluation, anesthetized, brains removed, following preparation brain homogenates, evaluated using specified methods.
